| Tallinn: Christmas in Jazz! From November 29 to December 17 is taking place in Tallinn the Joulujazz Festival, one of the biggest events in the country. A great number of important musicians from all over the world will liven up the Christmas time with their presence and music. This year the festival will feature up to 30 concerts, and will have the same goal as other years: to introduce music on as much as possible through all known styles of jazz, other interesting styles of world music and blues. Among the artists coming to Estonia this year, are names as French violinist and composer Jean-Luc Ponty, Brazilian star Giana Viscardi, the German Christian Prommer, New Yorker drummer Ari Hoening together with his trio Punk Bop and, for the first time in the history of Joulujazz, the beloved local singer Ivo Linna. The charity concert "Help to Start the Life" will also take place within the festival. On this, singers Margus Vaher and Iiris Vesik will act together with little children from the radio choir in order to support the Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital. Joulujazz is a part of the Estonian biggest Festival Jazzkaar, which started in 1990 under the name "The Days of Jazz & Blues in Tallinn". During its history this festival has hosted more than 2500 musicians from over 50 countries. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Jazz News :: home page |
