Live Jazz Performance with Jazz Flutist Delandria Mills

Flutist/Singer/Songwriter Delandria Mills will be performing this Thursday at the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys as part of the hotel's live jazz series. Delandria's music is a unique blend of jazz, classical, and gospel. Her musical approach combines a soft style, soulful interpretation, and extensive musical training.

Delandria Mills is a native of Houston, Texas, and holds music degrees from Prairie View A&M University (BA, 1998) and from the Peabody Conservatory of Music (MM, Flute Performance, 2002 and GPD, Jazz Studies, 2005). As a classical flutist, she served as Principal of the Baytown Symphony and Assistant/Associate Principal while at Peabody.

Delandria's skills earned her the top prize at the National Flute Association's Jazz Flute Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2003 and led to her being selected as one of six international young women to win the International Association of Jazz Educators' Sisters in the Jazz Collegiate Competition in 2005, which resulted in a European tour. She is the founder and leader of the Delandria Mills Jazz Ensemble, member of "Soundcheck, " the critically acclaimed band behind gospel pioneer Tye Tribbett and Greater Anointing, and she has collaborated with some of the finest gospel artists, including Judith Christie McAllister.

The Thursday night music performance is free and open to the public and is from 6-9 p.m. Free covered parking at the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys is an ideal feature of this music location. The Crossroads Lounge at the Radisson Hotel in the Village of Cross Keys offers an intimate setting for guests to enjoy light jazz music while taking advantage of the fully stocked bar which serves fine wines, local brews, and specialty cocktails with happy hour pricing from 4-7 p.m. In addition, the Crossroads Lounge and Restaurant feature a new menu if a full meal is in order.

Since January 2009, the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys has been teaming up with the Baltimore Jazz Alliance to offer the local community as well as hotel guests the diverse range of music that the Baltimore Jazz Alliance has to share like that of the Delandria Mills Trio.
