| Wolfgang's Vault Features Guitar Greats in Concert New releases by Merle Travis, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Rolling Stones highlight the guitar greats in the free-streaming Concert Vault. New concerts released for free streaming on Wolfgangsvault.com this week showcase some of the great guitarists of live performance. New shows by Stevie Ray Vaughan from Austin, Texas in 1984, Merle Travis from the Ash Grove, California in 1965 and The Rolling Stones from Memphis, Tennessee in 1978 have been added to the current all-star guitar heroes list. That list already includes a formidable group of guitar greats: Cream, Link Wray, John Mayall, Johnny Winter, Fleetwood Mac, Rory Gallagher, Nils Lofgren, The Edge and Jimi Hendrix. While "Guitar Greats" is admittedly a subjective term, Wolfgang's Vault has noted the guitarists whose unique styles are among the site's fan favorites, and have influenced other guitarists and aspiring guitarists with their work. The list would not be complete without Chrissie Hynde, Ray Davies, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, B.B. King, Santana and many of the great blues guitarists, all of whom can be heard in the Concert Vault. It is in the spirit of great reverence and respect for the many, many guitar greats who make up live music history that Wolfgang's Vault this week features a nod to the heros of guitar. All concerts in Wolfgang's Vault's Concert Vault are streamed free of charge - a great way for music fans to peruse and sample the guitarists they may never have seen perform in person. Additionally, many of the Wolfgang's Vault concerts are available for download - with hundreds more new downloads scheduled for release over the next six weeks in FLAC and MP3 formats. Wolfgang's Vault launched in San Francisco in 2003 with the archives of the late concert promoter known as Bill Graham, but actually named Wolfgang Grajonca. The ephemera of his concert producing career lay untouched for a decade after his passing, until purchased by entrepreneur and music fan Bill Sagan. Sagan invested in the archiving, curating and restoration of the collection, so that the rarities within it could be seen and heard by music fans worldwide. Since the launch of Wolfgang's Vault, Sagan has added an additional eleven other varied archives and collections to Wolfgang's Vault, making it the largest worldwide collection dedicated to the live music experience, and the worldwide online destination for live music fans, as well as a favorite free iPhone app. Wolfgang's Vault (wolfgangsvault.com) is "where live music lives" and the world's largest online archive dedicated exclusively to live concert recordings and vintage music resources and memorabilia. What began in 2003 with the personal archives of famed promoter Bill Graham now includes 12 different collections. Music fans find free music streaming online here, along with thousands of concert recordings from the last 50 years, digital downloads, as well as vintage rock posters, rock photography, and vintage and retro concert t-shirts and apparel available for purchase. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Jazz News :: home page |
