| Regina Carter Comes to FSU's CES Jazz Club The Frostburg State University Cultural Event Series Jazz Club welcomes Regina Carter, jazz violinist, who will perform with her quintet on Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall in the Lane University Center at 7:30 p.m. as part of her "Reverse Thread" tour. "Regina Carter creates music that is wonderfully listenable, probingly intelligent and, at times, breathtakingly daring…taking the listener into the future of jazz, " describes Time Magazine. In 1994, Carter first album was released. Since then, she has played with a broad range of musicians – from jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and R&B legend Aretha Franklin to Patti Labelle, Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill. She also lent her musical expertise to the score of the Ken Burns documentary "The Civil War." She has released five CDs with a sixth, "Reverse Thread" to be released in 2010. In the spring of 2006 Carter received an honorary Doctorate in Human Letters from Albion College of Albion, Mich. Later that same year, she was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship in recognition of her exceptional creativity. The Cultural Events Series' Pre-Performance Dinner Club offers concert-goers an opportunity to enhance their cultural experience. Regina Carter's "Reverse Thread" is one of three CES performances to offer a dinner package before the performance. Guests arrive on campus early, enjoy the benefit of easy parking access in the Performing Arts Center parking lot and dine on a delicious catered meal in a private restaurant setting in the Lane University Center. Dinner includes soup or salad, entrée with sides, dessert and coffee or iced tea. A cash bar is available throughout dinner. Tickets for Regina Carter's "Reverse Threads" are $17 for adults and $12 for young people under 17. Group rate tickets are also available. Prices for the Performance and Pre-Performance Dinner Package is $42 for adults and $37 for people under 17. A discounted season package ( three dinners ) is also available.
