In what can only be described as the summer's end jam of the year, Joe Jones, CEO of Versatile Productions has planned the ultimate pool party as a tribute to Los Angeles' Peace Officers and Firefighters. In light of L.A.'s recent rash of horrendous wild fires, a pool party is the perfect antidote to what has been a blazing ordeal for some of the city's hardest working men and women.

Fresh from the recent success of the CD listening party for former Tempation, Ollie Woodson and the intimate "One Night Only" performance with R&B sensation Vesta Williams, Jones is once again pulling out all stops for his ever expanding following of grown and sexy professionals. His "End of Summer Splash, Comedy & Concert Explosion" will feature songstress Miki Howard serving up a soulful blend of simmering vocals poolside, while comedians Melanie Comarcho and Doug Williams, host of Martin Lawrence's "1st Amendment Stand Up, " provide the comic relief. A hard body and swimsuit contest is planned for added extracurricular activities along with music, cocktails and overall summertime fun!

The End of Summer Splash will be held Sunday, September 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel. The Sheraton Gateway is located at 6101 W. Century Blvd. in Los Angeles. Miki Howard, the evening's headlining performer, had her first hit for Atlantic with "Come Share My Love". She followed that with a remake of Glenn Miller's 1940 tune "Imagination." Her success continued with two more top ten singles, "Baby Be Mine" and "That's What Love Is, " a duet with the late, hit-making R&B crooner Gerald Levert that led to Howard's biggest hit, "Love Under New Management." In 1992 Howard portrayed Billie Holiday in Spike Lee's film "Malcolm X, " followed by a featured role in John Singleton's "Poetic Justice" with pop icon Janet Jackson.

Jones is widely recognized for his LA Social Club monthly party productions, one of Los Angeles' most successful long running events. The well being of Los Angeles' peace officers and firefighters is no passing fancy for Jones however, nor a mere promotional gimmick. As a former Los Angeles police officer himself, Jones holds a real concern for his former peers. Several of Jones' personal friends are captains, sergeants, detectives, paramedics, officers and deputies who are involved with the promotion of the event.

"As a former LAPD officer, I know first hand about the work load these men and women take on. The day to day stress is like none other. I'm a promoter now, but I still consider myself a servant of the people, just in a different way. It only makes sense that I would create a very special event for my former colleages. Their relaxation is of paramount concern to me. They need the down time more than anybody. I've planned the End of Summer Splash as a huge gala tribute with them in mind, " expresses Jones, further adding, "I've price the event very reasonably so everyone can attend. I do not want the recession to effect the response this tribute should have!"

Versatile Productions will also host their monthly LA Social Club event, Saturday, September 12 at Gonpachi Beverly Hills from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Gonpachi is located at 134 N. La Cienga Blvd. in Beverly Hills. In addition, Versatile Productions will be planning two additional events annually, to continue to give firefighters and peace officers something fun to look forward to.
