| Tenby’s got the blues The fourth Tenby Blues Festival takes place in Pembrokeshire, South West Wales over the weekend of Friday 13 – Sunday 15 November 2009. With ticket prices pegged at last year's level, an exciting and varied line-up, plus loads of new events such as the Blues Quiz and the Open Mic Sessions, this year's festival looks like being the best ever. American soul/blues star Earl Thomas, supported by Paddy Milner's Big Sounds, kicks off the festival on Friday evening on the Chevron Stage in the De Valence Pavilion, followed by R'n'B legends Nine Below Zero on the Saturday. Both evenings have a full programme of support acts. The more intimate FBM Stage in the Rugby Club hosts an exciting lunchtime and evening programme that includes festival newcomers Dave Arcari, with his electrifying punk-blues, and all girl blues band Chix Wiv Pix, plus artists who were a hit last year such as Christopher Rees and Sean Taylor. There will also be a Pub and Club Trail with twelve hours of free music where you can hear the best local acts and up and coming blues stars from all over the UK, as well as an assortment of hipsters, flipsters and fingerpoppin' daddies doing their thing in the Brains Late Night sessions at the Giltar Hotel. Full details of the festival are available at either TenbyBlues.co.uk or myspace.com/thetenbybluesfestival. Ticket reservations can be made via the website. Ticket prices start from £5. For visitors planning to stay in Tenby for the weekend hotel suggestions include the Fourcroft, opposite Tenby north beach (fourcroft-hotel.co.uk) and the Giltar (giltar-hotel.co.uk) overlooking the south beach, or for those who prefer self-catering FBM Holidays (fbmholidays.co.uk) have a choice of cottages and apartments.
