ABC Amplified Awards Wraps Up Amplified 2009

The grand finale of Amplified 2009, the ABC Amplified Awards, topped off a huge bill of successful events last night (Sunday) with over 250 guests enjoying some of Tasmania's best music while celebrating the strength and talent of the island's contemporary music Industry. Minister for Tourism and the Arts, Michelle O'Byrne, said that she was thrilled at the public support shown at this year's Amplified events, as Tasmanians flocked to experience the local music scene.

"The grand finale of the festival, the ABC Amplified Awards, recognises all facets of the music industry including Outstanding Contribution to Tasmanian Music, Best Tasmanian Band, Supportive Venue of the Year, Manager of the Year, Artist(s) of the Year and much more. "The calibre of the ABC Amplified Award winners this year was exceptional and shows how much the industry has developed since the awards began four years ago. "The State Government is proud to be able to provide this platform to recognise and showcase the achievements of Tasmania's contemporary music industry, " Ms O'Byrne said. The 2009 Amplified Awards were delivered by arts@work in partnership with ABC local radio.
