Inakustik's “Paris Concert” Series Released On Blu-ray

Inakustik and MVD Visual are pleased to announce the release of "The Paris Concert" Series on Blu-ray disc for worldwide distribution on July 14, 2009.

As one of the largest independents in Germany, Inakustik is at the forefront of filming music content for DVD and now Blu-ray. Their endless praises have been sung by the press and the consumer alike. This set of Blu-ray releases come as little surprise given their affinity for detail and quality.

"Inakustik's standards for image and sound are incredible, " said Ed Seaman, COO of MVD Entertainment Group. "We are thrilled to be aligned with such high integrity, high quality content providers. Blu-ray consumers are typically audiophiles, and these great Jazz and Blues artists are the perfect match for audiophiles."

"The Paris Concert" Series consists of five titles…

José Feliciano Band "The Paris Concert"
This is the Blu-ray version of the first DVD ever released by José Feliciano! Recorded in High Definition at the New Morning Club Paris in August 2008, it was a thrill for the audience to welcome 6 time Grammy Award, Guitar & Singer great José Feliciano, backed by his superb 5 piece band. Throughout this compelling performance, combining effortlessly flamenco, bossa nova, pop and jazz influences with blues and rock lead guitar inflections, José delighted his fans with stunning interpretations of all times hits such as Purple Haze, Sunshine of Your Love and Rain. As today's uncontested No.1 Latin international crossover star, Feliciano has turned these standards, among many others, into jewels of musical groove so irresistible that it is almost impossible to separate them from the original versions. As José puts it: "If you can't interpret a song better than the original, don't do it".

Stanley Jordan "The Paris Concert"
Here's Jordan's moving New Morning concert of July 2007, backed up by Charnett Muffett and David Haynes, in all its Blu-ray splendor. As one of the most gifted guitarists of his generation, Stanley Jordan could easily content himself with the title of "uncontested master of the two-handed tap technique" which allows him to play rhythm and melody simultaneously, like a pianist or like two guitarists. This spectacular ability gained him fame and respect all over the world. Stanley Jordan is, however, much more than a top-class virtuoso. His interpretations of the grand repertoire (from Bird and 'Trane to John and Paul) are true masterpieces which boldly straddle tradition and new age. But the strength & depth of his multi-faceted diamond-like music stem from his early and unshakeable belief in the power of his art. For Stanley, making music has always been more than just entertainment; it is "in a world that needs it sorely, a genuine healing journey which will inspire & at the same time cure the soul, in the immediate and utterly therapeutic sense of the word".

Larry Carlton / Robben Ford / Autour Du Blues "The Paris Concert"
In late 2006, the New Morning presented an incredible meeting of legendary blues players specially flown in from Nashville & Tokyo, to live it up in Paris. As the climax of the club's 25th Anniversary Festival - and a birthday gift from the musicians - this Franco-American guitar summit brought together for the first time the members of Autour du Blues (the cream of France's top studio musicians) and two of America's most brilliant guitar heroes, Larry Carlton and Robben Ford. The show was a smash success with the people of Paris. It took the enthusiasm and generous friendship of these musicians to make this memorable get-together happen at the New Morning - the club where you come to hear and to play the music you like with the people you like. All aboard, then, for this trip "Round About the Blues" (Autour du Blues) ... with Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Francis Cabrel, Denys Lable, Michael Jones, Patrick Verbeke and their friends, united - for once beyond show business constraints - to give back to the blues what it has always given them... A real treat to be sure!

Mike Stern "The Paris Concert"
Mike Stern is certainly one of the best electric guitarists of his generation. This has never been more obvious than in the extraordinary concert the 4 time Grammy nominee gave in the springtime of 2008 to a mesmerized New Morning audience. At the peak of his inspiration, improvising past all musical genres, Mike - superbly backed this time by brilliant drummer Dave Weckl, soulful tenor saxophonist Bob Franceschini and incredible bassist Tom Kennedy - takes his fans along into a journey of pure musical delight. Not a surprise that Mike concluded the evening by confiding, "I don't want to stop! They'll probably have to wheel me off the stage".

Yellowjackets "The Paris Concert"
In March 2008, internationally acclaimed fusion superstar group the Yellowjackets shared an unforgettable evening of Jazz at its very best with the New Morning audience in Paris. At the peak of their creative art, Bob Mintzer (saxophone), Russell Ferrante (keyboards), Jimmy Haslip (bass) and Marcus Baylor (drums) played with the unaltered intensity & jubilation of their 1981 debut when, as backing band for guitarist Robben Ford, they created the compelling, unmistakable Yellowjackets sound, combining bebop, funk, R&B and rock influences. In the course of their 25 year career, the challenging team of improvising masters - 14 time Grammy Award nominees & twice winners - has turned into a driving force in contemporary music. We are proud to offer the Yellowjackets' countless fans this jewel of musical sophistication & groove!
