Lee Konitz: "Jammin' on the Hudson"

Riverbank State Park, in association with Brownstone Entertainment Complex, LLC, for our fifth consecutive year are pleased to present: "Jammin' On The Hudson."

Sunday July 26th brings a truly unique and unusually talented individual. He toured with the Stan Kenton Band, and has the distinction of being an original member of the "Birth Of The Cool" Band, a distinction he shares with Gerry Mulligan, Lenny Niehaus, and of course the Bandleader; Miles Davis, with music Arranged and Conducted by the great Gil Evans. A disciple of the late, great Lenny Tristano, he has a totally unique sound; he's one-of-a-kind, something so rarely heard on the Jazz Scene of today. In 2003 Mr. Konitz was recognized by the N.E.A. as a "Jazz Master". Recently he appeared at Brownstone Entertainments' "The Jazz Legacy Series" and then at The Village Vanguard—for the first time in 25 years….. He has a host of recording credits, as both Leader and Sideman, and a new release coming out on July 28th 2009 "Duo's with Lee" (Sunnyside). We are proud to welcome to "Jammin' a true Legend; the one, the only, Mr. Lee Konitz.

Riverbank State Park is located at 679 Riverside Drive in New York; between Riverside Drive and The Hudson River, the entrance to the Park is at 145th street and Riverside Drive. On sunny days the Concert Venue is "The Mainstage". If it rains Concerts are held indoors in an auditorium.
