| Blues Duo Rocked a Multi-Cultural crowd at the Filene Center Five time Grammy Award winning blues singer Buddy Guy, along with special guest Susan Tedeschi played a packed show at Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. The crowd of eager fans drawn from numerous ethnicities and ages filled the Filene Center to witness the soulful sounds of the blues legend. Although a Louisiana native, Guy is an important influence on the Chicago blues scene. In the Windy City, he has performed with greats such as Muddy Waters of Chess Records. Guy's music history goes back over forty years with numerous album releases. His newest, Skin Deep (2008) and The Definitive Buddy Guy (2009), continue to earn special attention. Susan Tedeschi, blues and soul artist, has earned multiple Grammy Award nominations and has risen to fame with her bold stage presence and a distinctive singing voice that compliments her mastery of the guitar. Her newest album, Back to the River, was released in 2008 on Verve Forecast Records and features hits such as 700 houses and True. Tedeschi captured listeners with her solos on the guitar while performing her latest hits, 700 houses, People, and Back to the River. Mostly all of her songs have meaning to society and the people in it, with her special thanks to the audience for their participation in voting and helping one another in this world we live in today. When Buddy hit the stage, he also showed off his guitar licks along with his raspy lyrics and engaging dynamic range. The two performers have worked together in the past, with many guest appearances on several projects. Tedeschi is a long time admirer of Buddy Guy's music, and credits him as a major influence in her career. Guy brought Tedeschi on stage and harmonized an unrehearsed solo, brining fans to their feet to see both artists collaborate on stage at the same time. "The show was great, Susan was a good opening act and I love Buddy, " said David O'Connor, a faithful fan of the two. "I enjoy Buddy shows, and had a chance to see him last year, where he played for a friend and I after the show for a couple of seconds, " he said. R&B/Soul singer-songwriter Gladys Knight will take the stage Sunday, July 5. Wolf Trap takes outreach to build multi-cultural audience as seriously as their mission to showcase the performing arts themselves.
