| Preservation Hall Jazz Band Signs to TKA Ted Kurland Associates has signed the venerated Preservation Hall Jazz Band for exclusive representation on a worldwide basis. TKA's history of working with legendary artists and their extraordinary careers was key to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band's consideration of the Agency as their new home. While dedicated to preserving and perpetuating Traditional New Orleans Jazz, Preservation Hall's Creative Director Ben Jaffe continues to seek unique collaborations with artists outside the genre, as with the critical and crowd-pleasing success of the "Down By The Riverside" tour with gospel superstars The Blind Boys of Alabama. 2010 and beyond has the band serving up an even richer gumbo of musical delights: a tour with Grand Ole Opry/Bluegrass legends The Del McCoury Band, a collaboration with the avant garde dance troupe The Trey McIntyre Project, and a national tour of the New Orleans holiday favorite, "Creole Christmas." Also back by popular demand are select availabilities for the celebrated "Down By The Riverside" tour with The Blind Boys of Alabama. In addition, 2011 will mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of Preservation Hall/Preservation Hall Jazz Band by Ben's parents, Allan and Sandra Jaffe. Jaffe not only wanted an agency who knows how to build on the momentum generated by the history of Preservation Hall, but it was also important for him find the right home for the current incarnation of the band. " Through its TKA meets Symphony division, the agency will also book the band for orchestral dates. Preservation Hall first began collaborating with symphony orchestras in 1998 when Marvin Hamlisch enlisted the band to perform with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Since then, the PHJB has gone on to perform with top orchestras around the country performing the most popular songs from the PHJB songbook arranged in-house by Ben Jaffe. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz.
