| Jamie Turner signs new act Bijoumiyo The music scene is set to get a whole lot funkier as Bijoumiyo - "the hardest working band in Cambridge" - sign significant management deal. The popular funk/soul/rock outfit will be working with Jamie Turner, the Cambridge band manager who found notoriety after successfully scoring investment with entrepreneur, Peter Jones, for a band he took on the BBC show, Dragon's Den. The deal with Turner's management company, Jamie Turner New Music ltd, marks a pivotal point for Bijoumiyo. The band has captivated audiences around Cambridge since they began playing their unique improvisational music back in 2006, and are now set to continue that success internationally. Jamie Turner said: "Bijoumiyo have such a strong loyal following in Cambridge simply because they make great music. I started off as a fan and am very excited to be able to take them further – nationally and eventually across the world, more on that later." Lead singer of Bijoumiyo, Myles Sanko, said: "It feels great to finally have someone truly believing in us hard-working grass root Cambridge musicians. Everyone on the team seems to be focused on getting us to the next level. We are absolutely confident we can make something happen and take our rightful place in the music industry." He continued: "We now have the guidance to make the right decision when our moment comes and can also focus on developing what Bijoumiyo really is all about for our audience." The band's blend of jazz, funk, rock and soulful music is enhanced by their improvisational approach, reacting to audience response and ensuring that every gig is different from the last. Bijoumiyo plays music to dance to, to sit back and chill to but everywhere they play the audience are never disappointed. As a band based in Cambridge, the signing will be a great boost to the local music scene and is emblematic of the approach to grassroots bands that JTnm has. This was an important deal for Turner who has been heavily involved in supporting Cambridge bands for the past seven years and is one of the main organisers of the Strawberry Fair festival. Turner said: "I'm based mainly in London now, but I haven't lost my passion for pushing the great music in Cambridge. It has so many talented musicians and Bijoumiyo tick every box. I am pleased to be able to work with such amazing new talent and I'm always on the look out for the next great band from Cambridge." Myles said: "We would love to put Cambridge on the map, not only its universities but also for its funk. Cambridge has done well to get us this far and we just want to pay her back." Although Bijoumiyo are first and foremost a live jamming band, they have fused together their funk, soul and rock roots in the studio to create a fresh album, with a single due for release this summer. Jamie also offers a free advice service to local bands trying to make it in the music industry.
