| 23rd Annual Carolina Blues Festival YES! Weekly presents the 23rd Annual Carolina Blues Festival, Saturday, May 9th at Festival Park, next to the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Greensboro. This event, the longest-running blues festival in the Southeast, is produced by the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society and is the anchor event for the 6th Annual EMFjazz&blues (formerly the Piedmont Jazz & Blues Festival). | The PBPS and YES! Weekly are proud to announce Cyril Neville, of the legendary New Orleans funk/blues group The Neville Brothers, as the headliner for the 23rd Annual Carolina Blues Festival. Joining Neville will be Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, bringing a generous dose of Mardi Gras showmanship to the stage. This year's bill also includes one of the fastest-rising stars of the blues world, Diunna Greenleaf, who will perform with her band, Blue Mercy, alongside blues legend and Triad resident Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin. One of the most powerfully enduring blues quartets, The Nighthawks, returns to the Festival stage this May. Triangle-based keyboard wizard and soulful vocalist Adrian Duke will make his first Festival appearance. Finally, the two winners of the annual PBPS Blues Challenge will perform; The Landon Spradlin Blues Band (electric band contest winners) and Greensboro's Bump & Logie (acoustic solo/duo contest winners). Learn more about all of these artists on our Schedule/Bios web page. Once again this year, The Music Academy of North Carolina will operate the Kids Area at the Carolina Blues Festival in partnership with the PBPS. The Academy will bring exciting enhancements including demonstrations of Early Childhood Music programs and the very popular instrument petting zoo to the Kids Area. Popular activities such as face painting and arts & crafts will continue. Information about the MANC and its programs/faculty will be available, and faculty and staff will be on site to answer questions. A huge thank you to our presenting sponsor YES! Weekly. Big thanks to Rock 92, WNAA 90.1 FM, Smith Stokes Chrysler Dodge Jeep Chevrolet, Miller Brewing Company, The Bank of Oak Ridge, Stonefield Cellars Winery, The Grateful Bread, and ALPZ Printing.
