Santana & The Pussycat Dolls at the Silverstone Classic

The Silverstone Classic is delighted to announce that Carlos Santana and The Pussycat Dolls will be headlining at the two exclusive concerts during the Silverstone Classic racing weekend event on 24 and 25 July 2009. This is the first time in its 60 year history that Silverstone racetrack will play host to such electrifying international musical talent.

On Saturday 25 July legendary and multiple Grammy Award-winning Carlos Santana will play his only UK concert this year, at the iconic Silverstone racetrack, entertaining spectators with his unique blend of 'old school' virtuosity and 'new school' cool style combining rock, jazz, blues, soul and various cultural genres. With a career spanning 40 years, Carlos Santana has sold 90 million albums worldwide and is considered by music aficionados as "one of rock's true virtuosos and guiding lights".

The Pussycat Dolls will continue their bid for 'Doll Domination' on Friday 24 July with their distinctive hits such as 'Don't cha', 'When I grow up' and a re-mixed 'Jai Ho!' from multi Oscar - winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire. With the band's lead singer Nicole Scherzinger's widely documented relationship with F1's World Champion Lewis Hamilton, Silverstone will be familiar territory for these iconic superstars.

Ken Prichard Jones, director of the Silverstone Classic, says, "Providing two quite different but passionate music styles, both Santana and the Pussycat Dolls reflect the spirit of the daytime racing grids, reaching both traditional and new generations of historic racing fans and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome them to Silverstone."

With Murray Walker as the official ambassador for the Silverstone Classic, lending his voice and expert opinion on the historic F1 races, spectators may also spot other well known personalities and racing champions both on and off-track, such as Bobby Rahal and Stirling Moss.
