| Jazz Rock Ensemble Spring Concert The big band music of the past and present swing era will be performed during a University of Nebraska at Kearney Jazz Rock Ensemble concert on Saturday, April 18. The program, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public. Musical selections on the program include jazz pieces styled in several types of swing, jazz waltz, Latin, rock, jazz rock fusion, contemporary jazz, ballad and funk. The selections are chosen from the libraries of the Yellowjackets, the Les Hooper Band, Les Brown, the Georgia Afro-American Jazz Ensemble and Stan Kenton, with tunes written by Don Sebesky, Jeff Jarvis, Miles Davis and Alan Baylock. "The UNK Jazz Rock Ensemble brings together UNK students from Nebraska, Michigan, Illinois and Arkansas to play great music from the best big bands and big band writers in the nation, " said Dr. Jim Payne, Jazz Rock Ensemble director.
