| Santa Cruz Jazz Festival It's back! The Santa Cruz Jazz Festival will take place this year on Friday May 8th and on Saturday May 9th and will host over 2, 000 student jazz musicians in 63 big bands, 22 jazz combos and 15 jazz vocal ensembles…and their families. The SCJF is open to the public. And the SCJF has found a new home. After using a variety of venues in Santa Cruz over the past 23 years, the SCJF will move into the new, state-of-the-art music facility at Cabrillo College in Aptos. The SCJF, a nonprofit organization with no paid administration or staff, attracts participants from throughout the United States and provides middle school, high school and college musicians an opportunity to perform on 6 stages and be adjudicated and instructed by professional jazz educators. The SCJF also provides clinics by professional musicians for participants and the general public. The SCJF is a true bargain in that the charge for 2 days and 2 nights of top musical performances is only $10 for an all-access button! But to keep this low, low price the SCJF is seeking, for the first time in 23 years, corporate sponsorship and donations. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Jazz News :: home page |
