Bernie Pearl in Concert

Guitarist Bernie Pearl recently celebrated his 50 years of playing the blues by releasing a new CD, "Old School Blues, Acoustic/Electric", to great reviews. On Saturday, February 28, Bernie will perform many of the tunes from it at Boulevard Music in Culver City.

Pearl, a long time musician, teacher, and blues broadcaster, long considered "the guru" of the Southern California blues scene, learned the music directly from legendary blues artists such as Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Fred MacDowell, and more. He carries on their musical styles and has added his own innovations.

Reviewer Mark S. Tucker wrote, "It goes without saying that Bernie Pearl produces some of the most genuine blues in the country, or the world for that matter..."

Pearl will debut several new pieces, including two never-performed-before instrumentals.

He will be accompanied by bassist Michael Barry.
