Kat DeLuna Signs with Universal Motown

Universal Motown Records has announced the signing of acclaimed singer/songwriter Kat DeLuna. Hailed for her genre-blurring blend of pop, hip hop, R&B, dance, electronic, meringue, opera, and Latin jazz, the award-winning Dominican-American artist will release her hugely anticipated label debut, entitled "Inside Out, " later this year.

"Kat is a truly global, boundary-crossing artist, " said Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone. "She's seen a lot of the world, and her music reflects her diverse cultural experiences and a tapestry of influences. I am very happy to welcome Kat into the Universal Motown family."

In the meantime, "Unstoppable (Feat. Lil Wayne), " the smash first single/video from "INSIDE OUT, " has just premiered on Kat's official MySpace page, located at www.myspace.com/katdeluna. The track, produced by Redone, is slated to impact multi-format radio outlets nationwide on February 24th.

DeLuna is currently heralding the album's release with a coast-to-coast club tour this month (see attached itinerary). The dates include eagerly awaited stops in such cities as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Houston, San Diego, Atlanta, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. A further series of live dates will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

In 2007, Kat exploded onto the pop charts with her top 20 hit, "Whine Up (Feat. Elephant Man)." The RIAA gold-certified single also proved a dance floor sensation, earning DeLuna a Billboard Latin Music Award for "Latin Dance Club Play Track of the Year." Further awards followed, including an MTV Tr3s Viewer Choice Award for "Best New Artist."

"9 LIVES, " DeLuna's 2007 debut album, spawned an additional club smash in "Run The Show (Feat. Busta Rhymes)." Executive produced by Akon, the single was an international blockbuster, reaching the top 10 in Belgium, France, Finland, Singapore, and Romania. What's more, a Spanish-language remix – featuring reggaeton superstar Don Omar – rocked dance floors around the world. Achieving further international success, Kat recently won two awards at the TMF Awards in Belgium, including "Best New International Artist" and "Best Urban International Artist."

Kat has also received a flurry of press accolades from a range of major publications, including People, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, Vibe, WWD, and Teen Vogue. "With the vocal strength reminiscent of the late great Selena, " declared Billboard, "the Dominican-bred chanteuse might just be starting a musical movement all of her own."
