| Jazzman Page Cavanaugh dead at 86 Jazzman Page Cavanaugh, whose career spanned film and stage, has died in California at age 86, a band mate announced. The singer and pianist who led The Page Cavanaugh Trio in the 1940s and 1950s and later formed The Page 7, died Friday in Los Angeles from kidney failure, bassist Phil Mallory told the Los Angeles Times. Page's career of more than 60 years included backing Frank Sinatra on stage, providing tunes for Jack Parr's radio show and appearances on the big screen, including "A Song Is Born, " "Romance on the High Seas, " "Big City" and "Lullaby of Broadway, " the Times said. The Kansas native moved to TV in the 1960s where he counted "The Ed Sullivan Show" among his many musical projects. His final recording with the latest incarnation of The Page Cavanaugh Trio was the 2006 "Return to Elegance."
