Bill Champitto added to Quincy's Standing O 2008-2009 Season

Bill Champitto has been added to JM Production's calendar at the Quincy MA Standing O, which is adjacent to Cela's Restaurant. John McDonald of JM Productions has been bringing the best talent from Boston and New York's theatres and the area music scene for over 25 years. This year he adds Boston based performer Bill Champitto to his roster. Bill is the recent winner of this year's Steppin' Out with the Stars talent showcase held at Scullers Jazz Club and has performed at the 2008 Steppin' Out Gala with a star studded lineup including Lala Hathaway, Andre Ward, Monty Alexander, Terri Lyne Carrington, Esperanza Spaulding, Kendrick Oliver, Wannetta Jackson, Larry Watson, Julia Nixon and Samba Tremeterra.

Bill Champitto will perform many of his own compositions from his CD "Water's Edge" and a new project he is currently working on in the studio. This show will also feature additional music from artists like Harry Connick, Michael Buble, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Bob Marley, Ray Charles, Bill Whithers, Sinatra, Santana and Van Morrison.

Bill started playing rock and blues on the Hammond B3 organ on his first working gig with a bar band in a waterfront club in Troy, New York. He cut his teeth in this 9 piece band, learning from ear the styles of bands from BS&T and Chicago, to Earth, Wind and Fire, and the Ohio Players, and jam bands like The Allman Brothers, Santana, Tower of Power and Traffic.

A few bands later, Bill was touring the states with club and small venue acts. Being self taught, Bill picked up everything he could from the wide variety of the players he toured with, including jazz standards, jazz fusion, reggae, southern rock and blues, alternative rock, and Latin / salsa.
He came to Boston to attend Berklee and learn more about his trade from the best. Boston is now his home where his energetic show can be seen in the North East US at many clubs and festivals.
