| Chris Botti Returns To McCallum Theatre The 10th Anniversary season of Fitz's Jazz Cafe at the McCallum Theatre continues with trumpeter Chris Botti - a gifted instrumentalist, a talented composer, and a charismatic performer who has become a virtual genre-of-one, and a star, in the realm of contemporary jazz. Chris began his career touring with Paul Simon, and later with Sting for the "Brand New Day" tour. His first album, First Wish, in 1995, followed by Midnight Without You, Slowing Down the World, Night Sessions, and December introduced listeners to his signature sound. It was the release in 2003 of A Thousand Kisses Deep that took Chris to the top of the charts. In 2004, When I Fall in Love provided Chris with his big break when he was featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." When I Fall In Love took the #1 spot on the jazz charts andspent an incredible 17 weeks at #1. Chris' next album, To Love Again, featured a collection of pop jazz standards and stand-out performances by some of the greatest singers in modern pop, rock, and jazz - Sting, Michael Buble, Gladys Knight, Steven Tyler and Paula Cole, among others. Chris Botti is that rare talent, whose singular combination of lush sound, sensual interpretations, and thoughtful improvisations have earned both critical acclaim and mainstream appreciation. This performance by Chris Botti, as part of the 10th Anniversary season of Fitz's Jazz Cafe series at the McCallum Theatre, is sponsored by Desert Lexus, Pacific Western Bank, La Quinta Resort, Castelli's Ristorante, Time Warner Cable Media Sales and KJJZ 102.3-FM Chris Botti appears at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, California, on Thursday, November 20, at 8:00pm. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Jazz News :: home page |
