| The James Moody and Hank Jones Quartet Release Our Delight With two amazing careers traveling alongside one another but never intersecting, it only seemed natural that James Moody and Hank Jones would finally find each other on the same road. With their new release on the IPO imprint, Our Delight, the two veteran jazz stars make an obvious statement with the title of CD but that is just the beginning, as the recording is quickly becoming every jazz aficionados delight. With Moody's trademark saxophone and beautiful flute playing and the archetypal piano of Jones laying down a velvety smooth bed for the rest of the quartet to accentuate and compliment, Our Delight is well on the way to becoming one of the classic jazz albums of this year and surely for years beyond the initial release date. The quartet including Todd Coolman (bass) and Adam Nussbaum (drums), ventures into the book of Gillespie and Stitt while offering up one original titled "Darben The Red Foxx." Regardless of the song selection the sheer simplicity, beauty, and eloquence of the music shines through of every track cementing the legendary status of Moody and Jones once again as true leaders of the genre and preservers of the tradition of jazz. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Jazz News :: home page |
