Spencer Day Releases 'A Better Way'

Uniquely American singer/songwriter Spencer Day has just released a single "A Better Way" to highlight the importance of the upcoming election in two weeks. A MP3 download is available on his Spencer Day website.

Spencer Day said, "Election Day is approaching very quickly, and I feel very passionately about the future of our country. The politics of fear and distrust is eroding our sense of a shared future and a common good. In the current climate it is more critical than ever for us to rise above the fray and to approach the voting booth with a deeper understanding of our candidates and their policies. I believe our future as Americans depends upon the health of the entire planet and a realization that we are truly all in this together."

Spencer is encouraging his fans to share "A Better Way" with everyone they know. He decided to make it available now - for free - on his website because its message is especially important in these turbulent times. In this song, Spencer pleads for compassion and understanding as people make important decisions about the future direction of our country. The message is gentle, important and universal.

"A Better Way" was just produced and will be included on Spencer's upcoming album, "Vagabond, " which will be released soon. "Vagabond" will again spotlight Day's unique style of American contemporary music, a blend of jazz, blues, soul and folk with a touch of humor and pathos. His music expressed through his rich baritone voice is setting the tone for a new American Songbook relevant to today's audiences.

Earlier this year, Spencer opened for Rufus Wainwright at the Napa Valley Opera House. Recently, Day was honored to be invited by Jazz legend Marian McPartland to join Nnenna Freelon and Mulgrew Miller in celebrating McPartland's 90th birthday at the Tanglewood Jazz Festival. This was followed by performing at the 51st Annual Monterey Jazz Festival. He is scheduled to perform at the Singapore Sun Festival in Singapore and at Java Jazz in Djakarta, Indonesia. On his return to the U.S., Day will have a full schedule, touring on both the East and West coasts.
