| Cachaca Jazz 'n' Samba Club Presents The Matt Savage Trio The Matt Savage Trio, helmed by Jazz piano phenomenon, Matt Savage, will make their first appearance at the Cachaca Jazz 'n' Samba Club on Friday, October 17th and Saturday, October 18th. One of the most popular new additions to the New York Jazz scene, Cachaca is located in Greenwich Village at 35 West 8th Avenue between 5th and 6th. Matt Savage will be joined by Trio sidemen, David Robaire on bass and Joe Saylor on drums. Their set will include at least one new composition which will debut at Cachaca as well as a number of Savage-penned songs from their current album, "HOT TICKET: Live in Boston, " including the Latin-fired "Muy Caliente" and "El Fuego" and the calypso jam, "Curacao, " performed on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." Praised by Jazziz as a "wildly inventive composer, interpreter and pianist no matter what his age, " pianist Matt Savage began his performing career at the age of 8 and developed his skill and maturity over the past 8 years, working with such jazz notables as Clark Terry, Jimmy Heath, and Bobby Watson, among others. He has performed at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival and the New Orleans Jazz Festival, as well as such famed jazz clubs as Birdland, Blue Note and Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Savage has also won ASCAP'S Young Jazz Composer Award every year since 2004. In addition to "Late Night with Conan O'Brien, " Savage has made numerous media appearances including "The Late Show with David Letterman, " the "Today Show, " "20/20" and Marian McPartland's popular "Piano Jazz" show on NPR.
