| Book Prize For Horizons Touched Steve Lake and Paul Griffiths, co-editors of "Horizons Touched: The Music of ECM" (Granta Books), have been named as winners of the 2008 Awards for Excellence in Historical Sound Research by the US-based Association for Recorded Sound Collections. The prize is for Best Research in Record Labels/Best History. The Association for Recorded Sound Collections is a non-profit organization devoted to the preservation and study of historical recordings. Its awards are presented annually "to recognize outstanding published research in the field of recorded sound. In giving these awards, ARSC recognizes outstanding contributions, encourages high standards, and promotes awareness of superior works." An Awards Banquet will be held in Washington DC on Saturday May 30, 2009, during the association's annual conference. "Horizons Touched", an unorthodox multi-perspective label history, includes 20 specially-commissioned essays and more than 100 statements by musicians, composers, filmmakers, photographers and engineers from the wider ECM family. A large format hardback book in slipcase, it features numerous colour and black and white illustrations, as well as extensive discographies.
