| Autumnal Nights All Jazzed Up At Dover Street Launching the new season with a six piece showcase from Saxophone superstar Leo Green, son of writer, broadcaster and musician Benny Green, the Leo Green Experience makes music that's born to boogie, according to jazz master, Jools Holland. Taking to the Dover Street stage on the 1st October, the Leo Green Experience is a musical journey through swing to funk, disco to contemporary chart and classic pop to soul. Following the Leo Green Experience on to the London jazz bar's stage at the beginning of October, the 10-piece Swing Thing will be smoothing out the sounds of autumn with a sassy schedule of jump jive and swing. Belting out favourite tunes from the era of Louis Jordan and Ray Charles, Swing Thing's Monday night appearance on the 13th October is an ideal mid-month antidote to the winter blues. Rounding out October, Halloween festivities will be helped along by the vocal presence of Gordon Webber and Francesca Payne. Their dynamic nine-piece band serves up foot tapping, big band soul and Motown sounds. The bustling late night venue in the heart of the capital starts each evening with a resident trio of jazz musicians to accompany diners enjoying the Dover Street Restaurant's classic cuisine. Bestowed with a Visit London Gold Award for Live Entertainment, a DJ is also on hand between sets to keep the beat booming until 3am. The perfect accompaniment to a night of live music, The Dover Street menu is innovative and inspired without being over-fussy. Classic dishes are made with the freshest ingredients and without pretension for a menu that rivals any great french restaurant in London. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Jazz News :: home page |
