| Critically Acclaimed String Trio Performs at Erie Art Museum The Erie Art Museum's Contemporary Music Series presents the String Trio of New York on October 4. The performance will be held in the Erie Art Museum Annex, 423 State Street. This tour is made possible by a grant from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and is sponsored locally by Connoisseur Media. The String Trio of New York will present a workshop for parents and their preschoolers as part of Family Fun Fridays on Friday, Oct. 3. The String Trio of New York has performed hundreds of concerts throughout North America, Europe, East Asia, India, the Middle East and North Africa and has 18 critically acclaimed CDs. The cooperative trio features James Emery on guitar, John Lindberg on bass and Rob Thomas on violin. Each member has been celebrated and recognized independently for their jazz stylings, making this collaboration a dynamic and stunning jazz event. James Emery has been termed "one of the world's finest guitarists" by All About Jazz. While Lindberg, on bass, has toured worldwide as a leader and has released 25 albums featuring his compositions, and Downbeat Magazine most recently noted "One of bassist Lindberg's most enduring distinctions is that he demonstrates how much having fun could—probably should—be central to modern jazz dynamics". Thomas on the other hand, is increasingly regarded as on of the most impressive jazz violinists currently working. He brings with him stunning technique and total command of the jazz vocabulary, which inspires all who hear him. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Jazz News :: home page |
