One O'Clock Lab Band

On September 26 One O'Clock Lab Band will perform at the Conference Center of the University Of Texas at Dallas. The One O'Clock Lab Band is the premier performing ensemble of UNT's world-famous jazz program, which was created in 1947. The band has released 35 albums, four of which received Grammy nominations. They have earned awards from National Public Radio, VISA International and the Dallas Observer Reader's Poll, and regularly headline at the International Association of Jazz Educators conference. Regarded as unsurpassed among university jazz bands, the ensemble has performed at the White House and with such artists as Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald.

The ensemble has toured Finland, Germany, Portugal, France, Thailand, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Japan and Russia. In July of 2008, the band toured Europe, playing the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Brienz Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Vienne Festival in France, the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Netherlands, the Tuscany Jazz Festival in Italy and the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia. Past members have gone on to play in bands led by Count Basie, Branford Marsalis, Harry Connick, Jr., Doc Severinsen, Woody Herman, David Lee Roth and Bill Evans.
