Fourth Annual Mainstreet Jazz Festival Set for September 13

Mainstreet Jazz Festival's "Cool Pool Jazz By Candlelight" in Stone Mountain, Ga., features saxophonist Antonio Allen and jazz songstress Rai Ragland for an evening that blends contemporary and traditional jazz.

Mainstreet Community Services Association will bring together two of the best in Atlanta's jazz scene - saxophonist Antonio Allen and songstress Rai Ragland – at 8 pm, Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 for the 4th Annual Mainstreet Jazz Festival at Mainstreet Clubhouse in Stone Mountain.

Allen has performed with bassist Wayman Tisdale, saxophonist Kirk Whalum, R&B legend Jean Carne, and platinum recording artists, Silk. He is also a member of the popular contemporary R&B/jazz ensemble Five Men On A Stool. The saxophonist's sophomore CD "Forever And Always" features mid-tempo grooves, romantic ballads as well as gospel selections. Opening up for Allen is the versatile vocalist Rai Ragland, who performs traditional and contemporary jazz likened to the style of Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Dianne Reeves, Sarah Vaughan, Al Jarreau and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Ragland's latest CD is entitled "Raizin."

"Each year we look forward to presenting a fun and memorable evening that gives music lovers from around Atlanta a unique and intimate concert experience, " says Winfrey Pierce, president of the Mainstreet Community Services Association. "With our signature candlelit pool area again setting the ambiance for the concert, this year is going to be just as special because we will have two outstanding artists representing traditional and contemporary jazz grace the stage."

The 2008 festival, billed as "Cool Pool Jazz By Candlelight, " will be held at Mainstreet Clubhouse located at 5001 Mainstreet Park Drive, Stone Mountain, Ga. 30088. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Mainstreet Community Scholarship Fund.
