| Elvin Bishop 'Rolls' Into Los Angeles For August 1 Performance Guitar great Elvin Bishop will perform at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on August 1 in anticipation of his new album, 'The Blues Rolls On' (Sept 23/ Delta Groove/Eclecto Groove). Sharing the bill are fellow blues legends Buddy Guy and George Thorogood. The latter is a recurrent collaborator who joins Bishop on the new record for Hound Dog Taylor's "Send You Back to Georgia." Since his days with the seminal Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Bishop has enjoyed considerable success in his extensive career as a solo artist. 'The Blues Rolls On' harkens back to his roots and features a who's who of blues musicians, including B. B. King, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, James Cotton, Kim Wilson, Tommy Castro, and others. With 45 years of blues under his belt, Bishop has a distinctive sound marked by what Rolling Stone has described as "careening slide and razor-edged bursts, all delivered with unflagging enthusiasm and wit." write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Jazz News :: home page |
