| Placido Domingo and Diana Krall to perform at Jordan festival International opera stars Placido Domingo and Julia Migenes, and jazz singer Diana Krall will be the highlights of a star-studded summer in Jordan. The Jordan Tourism Board has announced the details of a spectacular line-up of international, Arab, and Jordanian stars who will take part in the Jordan Festival to take place between July 8th and August 9th in Amman, Jerash, the Dead Sea and Petra. This will be the first time for the world-renowned Spanish tenor Placido Domingo and the American soprano opera singer Julia Migenes to perform in Jordan. It will also be the first time for Canadian Jazz vocalist and pianist Diana Krall. Domingo will perform against the backdrop of one of the most impressive and best preserved Greco-Roman theaters in the world in the city of Jerash, 40 kilometers north of the capital Amman. Krall will perform at the Amman Citadel, an equally impressive Greco-Roman site. Among the international artists to perform during the Jordan Festival will be pop star Mika who will not "relax" his fans at the Dead Sea - the lowest spot on earth. Mika, who is half American half Lebanese has a strong following among the youth of Jordan who know him most for his hit "Relax, Take It Easy." The Festival will also see the participation of Arab and Jordanian pop stars like Amr Diab, Elissa, George Wassouf, Abdullah Ruwaished, Fadel Shaker, Omar Abdallat, and others. A special Algerian night will bring three of the best Rai musicians and performers: Cheb Khalid, Faudel, and Biyouna. JTB Managing Director Nayef al-Fayiz expressed excitement at the event, which mark the highlight of Jordan's cultural calendar. He said "we are looking forward to another exciting summer season during which visitors can enjoy great activities, memorable performances, a unique tourism experience, a moderate climate, and Jordan's typical hospitality." AL-Fayiz said the 5-week event represents is a true cross-cultural interaction that compliments the unique touristic experience in Jordan. The Jordan Festival includes photo exhibitions by Beat Streuli, David Lynch, and Steve McCurry which will be held in Amman and in Petra, one of the world's seven wonders.
