| Alison Burns & Martin Taylor head towards the UK charts! Alison Burns and Martin Taylor's new album "1:AM" was released this morning and has already started a huge jump for the album in the Amazon sales ratings. The album entered at 12, 500 and within hours shot up to 905! Making Alison one of the few Jazz acts to get into Amazon's top 1000 selling CDs. "1:AM" is a stunning collection of songs, both old and new, that have been specially arranged for just voice and guitar. The inspiration for the project was found when Martin was listening to the Grammy Award winning album "Again" recorded by Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass in 1976 and he decided that the time was right to attempt to re-create the intense emotional experience this stripped down format brings to the songs. He collaborated with Alison on the choice of material and they brought in top studio producer Tony Platt to capture the voice and guitar using a selection of rare and carefully researched microphones in order to capture the same intimacy that the Pass/Fitzgerald album had. It worked, and the result is a beautiful and emotional album that we hope will be cherished by those that buy a copy. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Jazz News :: home page |
