Wild Moon At Hickory Ridge

Macomb based acoustic/folk band Wild Moon will perform at the Hickory Ridge Concert Series Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 7:30 pm. Wild Moon combines the influences of folk, bluegrass, blues and jazz with original songwriting creating a relaxed, eclectic style that has won them a large fan base in Western Illinois.

Wild Moon takes their name from the February full moon which is symbolic for rebirth and rejuvenation. The group formed a few years ago when Jeanie and Brian Davenport, Keel Clemmons and Gayla Elliot began getting together to sing with each other just for the joy of it. All four were writing songs weekly, enjoying the freedom of original acoustic music and in a short amount of time, the four writers experienced a creative surge, writing upwards of 60 original songs. The songs include different musical styles such as folk, blues, jazz, and bluegrass. Randy Smith, a well known mandolin and fiddle player joined the band a year ago.

Wild Moon has always been more about playing music with friends for the joy of music rather than making music as a business venture. All five members have full time jobs (in teaching and counseling fields) and four have families and children. Together they bring over 100 years of playing experience to the table.
