| The 2008 St. Lucia Jazz Festival The St. Lucia Tourist Board announces the musical line-up for the 17th anniversary of the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, slated for May 2 - May 11, 2008. This year's festival includes the voices of Jonathan Butler, Dianne Reeves, Dionne Warwick, Ledisi and Angie Stone along with the musical talents of instrumental performers such as the Juilliard Quartet, featuring Ron Blake, Eddie Henderson, Carl Allen, Ben Wolfe and more. St. Lucia's 10-day jazz celebration marks a return to the festival's core by focusing more on the straight jazz category with favorites such as Najee, David Sanchez, Nick Colionne and Ledisi to name a few. In addition, the festival will have multiple complimentary daily shows of acoustic, new age, jazz, soul, fusion and R&B sounds held in a variety of locations and venues around the island, including Jazz on the Square in Castries and Fond d'Or Jazz in Dennery. Considered one of the Caribbean's premier jazz festivals, St. Lucia Jazz attracts thousands of visitors each year to enjoy island-wide musical acts. Not to be entirely left out, the R&B and Hip Hop genre is included with performances by superstar Wyclef Jean, and the melodic voice of Angie Stone. Jean and Stone along with Eric Ildefonse and his Quintet will close the festival on Sunday, May 11th at Pigeon Island National Landmark. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Jazz News :: home page |
