"Salsa Snow Fiesta"

Salsa music fans are being invited to shake off those winter blues by enjoying a hot evening of Salsa music and Caribbean food on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at George's Roadhouse in Sackville, N.B.

Doors will open at 6:30 for tropical drinks (mojitos, margaritas), which are not included in the price. Dinner will be from 7:00-8:30, and will consist of Caribbean salsa and chips; tropical salad with creamy mango dressing; spiced plantains; chicken, pork, and veggie brochettes; beans and rice; and coconut bread with fruit sauce for dessert.

Latin Groove will begin playing at 9:00. The group consists of leader and double ECMA winner Jeff Goodspeed and nine other musicians from the East Coast and from Cuba who are part of his Los Primos project. Sixteen-year-old Halifax-area phenom Shayna Dub (voice, flute, sax), vocalist Sean Harris from Newfoundland, trombonist Paul Barrett from Truro, drummer David Burton from Truro, and percussionist Keith Mullins from Cape Breton are joined by Cuban musicians Jorge (The Pearl of the South) Chicoy on guitar, Tony Rodriguez on piano, Avi Garcia on bass, and Yasek Manzano on trumpet. The Cuban players have performed over the years with such notables as the Buena Vista Social Club, Omara Portuondo, Chucho Valdes, Arturo Sandoval, Irakere, Issac Delgado, and Carlos Varela, and many have performed in Canada and Cuba with the group HavanaFax.
