| Somers Point Jazz Society honors jazz great Johnny Andrews President Nicholas Regine of the Somers Point Jazz Society has announced that the organization will be honoring one of the truly great jazz artists of our time, Johnny Andrews this coming weekend. February 23rd will mark the kick off event for the Somers Point Jazz Society's upcoming season of concerts including the Cape Bank Jazz at the Point Festival. The kick off party wil be held at Stumpo's restaurant located at Maryland and Sunny avenue in Somers Point, New Jersey from 6:30pm to 8pm. Free pizza and a complimentary drink will be made available at the party and Nick Regine promises it will be a night to remember. The 2008 version of the Cape Bank Jazz at the Point will take place March 6 through March 9 at various locations in Somers Point, NJ. This will mark the 10th anniversary of this multi-venue jazz presentation. Starting out originally as a Sunday event with a few local jazz bands it has grown into a 4 day event with a great mix of world class jazz personalities and the best area jazz players performing in 11 venues. Headlining the 2008 Event will be The Cannonball Legacy band, featuring Vincent Herring and Jimmy Cobb.
