International Songwriting Competition and CBC Recognize Tracy K

For several years, Tracy K has been an active musician and songwriter in the contemporary folk and blues genres. She has written songs for various projects outside of her own, including a movie and a special tribute to the Six-String Nation guitar. Now there are new feathers for her cap:

On January 28th, Tracy K was declared a semi-finalist in two categories of the 2007 International Songwriting Competition. Her song “Broken & Blue" was chosen in the Blues category, and “Rollin' with the Changes" was chosen in the coveted Performanca category. Finalists will be announced Feb 4th.

CBC Recording in February - Tracy K has been chosen to write a song based on one of the five titles from CBC Radio One's “Canada Reads 2008", the annual event where five 'celebrity' readers compete over which Canadian book should be considered a classic. Alan Neal, the host of Ontario's Bandwidth has asked five musicians from different parts of Ontario to each read one of the books and write a song based on it. Tracy K is paired with up-and-comer Jamie Smith, aka “The Auditor General", also from Thunder Bay. A live concert will be recorded at the CBC Ottawa studios on Monday, February 18th for broadcast province-wide on “Bandwidth" and nationally on “Canada Live", both on Feb. 23rd.

On Friday, Feb.16th, “Canada's First Lady of the Blues Harp" Tracy K and her Right Hand Band will bring their original brand of rockin' blues to the Rainbow Bistro in Ottawa for a recording by CBC Radio Two's “Canada Live" for future national broadcast.

A very informative, and in-depth interview has just been posted to Cross Harp Chronicles on Tracy K. It chronicles her musical journeys and philosophies to date with pertinent and thoughtful questions.
