Danny Melnick Launches Absolutely Live Entertainment Llc

Danny Melnick, former Artistic Director and Senior Producer at Festival Productions, Inc., has formed Absolutely Live Entertainment LLC, a new production companyfor sponsors and other corporate entities eager to present choice live events. The staff of ALE has created, produced and managed some of the most historic and successful music events throughout the world from New York to London; San Francisco to Tokyo; Paris to Pittsburgh.

"I have spent my entire adult life presenting historic music events and have close relationships in the music and performing arts business, " says Melnick, President of ALE. "It is the perfect time to start this company and offer my expertise, creativity and passion to a community whose respect I have worked hard to earn over the years."

Melnick played a central role in the JVC Jazz Festivals in Newport and New York, the Bermuda Music Festival, the Hampton Jazz Festival, and the Verizon Music Festivals. He produced the Mellon Jazz Festivals in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, the Boston Globe Jazz Festival, and the Freihofer's Jazz Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY. He was the Artistic Director for the Newport Jazz 50th Anniversary Festival in 2004; has worked on over 90 festivals in Europe, Japan and the US; and toured Europe, Mexico and South America.

In the coming months, Absolutely Live Entertainment has already been selected to produce several 25th anniversary concerts for Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock, Jack DeJohnette and 75th birthday concerts for Wayne Shorter. ALE will also program and co-produce the Freihofer's Jazz Festival (presented by Festival Productions, a division of The Festival Network, LLC and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center) and consult for the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival in Washington DC.

Melnick is the Artistic Director for "The Shape of Jazz" series, now in its 5th season at Carnegie Hall.

Joining Melnick as ALE's Senior Producer is Tracy Reid, his former associate at Festival Productions, Inc. where she served as Associate Producer and Production Coordinator for the Newport Folk Festival, the JVC Jazz Festivals in Newport and New York and the Bermuda Music Festival among others. Reid has also worked on the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the Essence Music Festival, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, the San Francisco International Film Festival, Woodstock '94, and on tours for U2 and Pearl Jam.
