A Bay Area Exclusive show with Nickodemus & Zeb

Sunday, January 20, 2008 Dub Mission celebrates MLK Jr's Birthday with an exclusive Bay Area show featuring two of NYC's finest producers, Nickodemus on the turntables, and Zeb live on oud & guitar.

Coming back to DUB MISSION for what promises to be another incredible night, NICKODEMUS and ZEB will move souls and feet with sounds from Africa, Arabia, and Brooklyn, to the Balkans & Beyond, all in a dub style.

From the early days of Giant Step, to today's Turntables on the Hudson parties, procucer/ remixer/dj NICKODEMUS has been a key element in the NYC dance music scene for over a decade. As a DJ and producer, he spans the World with sounds of Funk, Folk, Jazz, Hip Hop, House and Dub-all with a message of peace, awareness and love for the dance. He has been a supporting DJ for live concerts by the likes of Gil Scott Heron, Jazzmattazz, The Pharcyde, Mos Def & Kweli, KRS-One, Us 3, Thievery Corporation, Groove Collective, Pucho & the Latin Soul Brothers, Angelique Kidjo, and Femi Kuti, and has been a featured guest DJ at various clubs throughout the world including Paris, Vienna, London, Kosovo, La Coruna, Barcelona, Puerto Rico, Mexico City, Playa del Carmen, Seoul, Melbounre, Sydney, and all major cities in the US. NICKODEMUS runs his own label-Wonderwheel Recordings-and has done remixes for artists like Billy Holiday, Thievery Corporation, Sultan Khan, Astor Piazzolla, Gilfeme, Dublex Inc, Nina Simone, Boozoo Bajou, Karuan, Madrid de los Austrias, and Truby Trio. His latest release is called "Endangered Species Remixed."

ZEB has been a key producer behind the enormous Global-Dub-Funk movement since 1995! He is a modern day troubadour, soaking in the music and culture of places he travels to. Born to Italian Gypsy parents, he traveled often and immersed himself in music, picking up the guitar at age 10. By 16, he had moved to London and was playing in various bands that were heavily influenced by new wave, roots/reggae and funk/rock. But it was really once he settled in New York that he found his true calling, helping jump-start the now-defunct legendary party, Organic Grooves with his partner Sasha Crnobrnja in 1993. As a successful artist and producer, he has been a key contributor to Irma Records, Codek Records, Rhythm Love and Stoned Asia (check his album under the alias The Spy From Cairo). It was only a matter of time before the world caught up to his talents and he was commissioned to remix the likes of Kruder & Dorfmeister, Tosca, Astor Piazolla, Baba Maal, and Billie Holiday. ZEB's latest release, Stop the Earth, I Want to Get Off!, on Wonderwheel, spans the musical world from Eastern Dub and Folk, to Bossa, Funk, and Afrobeat. Zeb plays guitar, oud and bass, but also produces, arranges, programs and mixes all of his music.
