| Deborah Davis at Blue Note Once again Jazz Vocalist, Deborah Davis & The Blue Note Jazz Club are proud to announce the 11th Annual Jazz Benefit Concert for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The benefit has been held annually the first Monday of the year since 1998. Deborah first began campaigning for the Leukemia Society in 1997 by running a marathon in Dublin Ireland with the Leukemia Society Team in Training. Although Deborah finished the 26.2 mile marathon, she soon realized that she had a much better platform for raising funds. After learning that the Blue Note family also had a close link to the disease she ask owner Danny BenSusan to donate the cover charge from her performances once per year to the cause. Deborah & The Blue Note continue the concerts in honor of her father Douglas E. Davis, Sr. who lost his battle with the disease in 1981, saxophonist Michael Brecker, journalist Ed Bradley, The Blue Note Family, and on behalf of all the patients and their families who are battling blood related cancers. Deborah also participates in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual Light The Night Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, held in October. The funds from the concert are combined with her funds raised for the walk. The 10th anniversary show in January 2007 was “sold out” raising $10,375 . The 9th year in 2006 she raised $9020. She invites you to be a part of helping her to reach her $11K goal for the 11th year's benefit January 2008. Deborah also donates $1 of the sale of each of her CD's to the cause. CD's are available online. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
