| Creative Nation Music Label Launches New Web Site Creative Nation Music announced the launch of its new Web site. Designed by Improvised Communications, the site features upcoming release and performance news, artist information, sound clips, online sales and more. The Boston-based label has released nine CDs over the past six years, documenting some of the most distinctive musical personalities from Boston's jazz and improvised music scene. New titles by Garrison Fewell/Eric Hofbauer, Giacomo Merenga/Dave Tronzo, Quartet of Happiness and Eric Hofbauer and the Infared Band are in the works for 2008. Its most recent release is People I Like (CNM 008), the latest CD from The Blueprint Project featuring special guest Han Bennink, which hit the streets in August. The disc helped earn the band a Boston Music Awards nomination for Outstanding Jazz Act of the Year, as well as widespread attention from the media. Critics called the disc “serious fun” (Julian Cowley, The Wire), “nothing short of glorious” (Nic Jones, AllAboutJazz.com) and “one of my favorite releases of the year” (Robert Iannapollo, Cadence). Creative Nation Music grew out of a grassroots collective called Creative Nation Music Productions, which began as a concert series and eventually became a hub for producing concerts and selling recordings by local musicians through a centralized online storefront. Directed by guitarist/composer Eric Hofbauer, the label's focus since 2004 has been to produce recordings that introduce the rest of the world to some of the innovative work of musicians based in the Greater Boston area. Its releases are distributed by City Hall Records and the Independent Online Distribution Alliance. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
