Alexandra Caselli Releases Jazz CD 'Rough Edges'

Unbounded love, impatient excitement, quirky humor, secret melancholy - you will be moved when listening to Alexandra Caselli's newest CD "Rough Edges." This talented Los Angeles-based pianist has assembled an illustrious group of musicians to bring her original songs to life. The blending of traditional and contemporary instrumental jazz styles may bring to mind artists such as Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, and Dave Brubeck.

During many years of performing concerts and festivals with KTLA reporter Jennifer York, Ms. Caselli worked with saxophonist Carol Chaikin and trumpeter/vocalist Jonathan Dane.

The dynamic chemistry she has with these soloists is continued on this new release, primarily in a quartet format. Dane, who is often compared to Chet Baker, sings the lyrics of the two vocal songs on the CD. You may have heard alto flute player Jennifer Hall as part of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" house band, and Brad Rabuchin as guitarist with the late Ray Charles. From the Cal State Long Beach music faculty, Jennifer Leitham and Randy Drake are the bass and drum team throughout the CD. Leitham has become a jazz star in her own right after being sideman for many others including Mel Torm and Doc Severinson.

Moonjumpers Publishing is happy to present Alexandra Caselli's third CD "Rough Edges" in time for the holidays. The inspired song writing, along with a combination of musicians found only on this recording, makes this a unique and cherished gift. Samples may be heard and CD purchases made online at www.cdbaby.com/cd/Caselli3. Those living in the Los Angeles area can hire the Caselli quartet for special occasions or hear them play live in local clubs. A CD release night is scheduled for December 2 at the long-established Smoke House in Toluca Lake (818-845-3731). The band is also featured monthly at JAX in Glendale (818-500-1604).

"She's an absolutely marvelous pianist, and if there's any justice in this world, we'll be hearing much more from her.... I won't even try to explain what makes Caselli so special, but I believe I know an exemplary player when I hear one, and I've heard one here." - Jack Bowers, Cadence Magazine

Alexandra grew up in the Austin, Texas area and was classically trained at the piano. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, she went on to study jazz at North Texas State University in Denton. She became a professional keyboardist in the Lake Tahoe and Reno area, and is now happily living in LA, earning a living as a musician in a variety of situations.
