| Ricky Skaggs Coming To A Prairie Home Companion Bluegrass great Ricky Skaggs will be performing on legendary radio show A Prairie Home Companion this Saturday, November 10 with the Whites and members of his ace band Kentucky Thunder. The group will perform songs off Ricky and the Whites latest release 'Salt Of The Earth, ' out now on Skaggs Family Records, of which No Depression magazine says "voices that have known each other from three decades of singing around the house, the studio, and the road create an instant intimacy which is both inherent and comfortable." 'Salt Of The Earth' is the first full length album collaboration between Ricky and the Whites (Ricky's wife Sharon White, sister-in-law Cheryl White and father-in-law Buck White). The album displays Ricky and The Whites deep roots in the gospel tradition, all the while adding new songs sure to become part of the gospel canon. Each share lead vocals, and meld their voices into meticulous familial harmonies. With guitar, mandolin, bass and fiddle forming the foundation of most tracks, the sparse arrangements allow the vocals to color each song. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
