Jack Evans of Reverend Zen Receives 2007 ASCAP Plus Award

Jack Evans of the New York based rock/jazz/R&B group Reverend Zen has just been named the recipient of a prestigious ASCAP Plus Award. Mr. Evans was chosen as a recipient in the annual awards by a distinguished panel of music experts chaired in ASCAP's Jazz & Popular Music Division. The ASCAP Plus Awards are based on recent activity of the applicants and considered on merit and in the context of all others applying.

As one of the principal writers and lyricist for Reverend Zen, Mr. Evans has received twenty nine song writing awards from the VH1 Song of the Year Contest, the Billboard World Song Contest, the Mid Atlantic Song Contest, the Unisong International Song Contest and the UK's Singer-Songwriter Awards. Among those honors are five Runner Up Awards and a Finalist Award in the 2005 and 2006 VH1 Song of the Year Contest and two Finalist Awards in the 2007 Unisong International Song Contest.

Currently, Mr. Evans and Reverend Zen have received three Best Song Nominations in the upcoming 2007 Los Angeles Music Awards for their songs "Dangerous Times", "Bad Attitude" and "Don't Try To Tell Me". All three songs are from Reverend Zen's debut cd Angels, Blues & the Crying Moon. The 2007 Los Angeles Music Awards take place Nov.29th at the Music Box Theatre in Los Angeles.

The ASCAP Plus Awards distributions take place in January 2008 at the ASCAP offices in New York.
