| Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble in Rome, NY The world-renowned Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble comes to RFA in Rome, NY on October 13th to record and perform LIVE with the YCCA Wind Ensemble. PBS will be filming this historical concert for a one-hour DVD Special. Ticket sales go to support the YCCA Music Program. The Boys Choir of Harlem Alumni Choir (The Alumni Choir), created February 2007 under the direction of Terry Wright(head choreographer, assistant director and lead singer of the Boys Choir of Harlem), is the natural offspring of The Boys Choir of Harlem Inc. Through a program of education, counseling and performing arts, the Alumni Choir is an artistically driven organization dedicated to providing its audience with a broad-based entertainment experience. The Alumni Choir members, age range 17 to 45, thru their training with the Boys Choir of Harlem under the direction of the late Walter Turnbull, are honed to be disciplined, confident, motivated and successful performers, citizens and Americans ambassadors to the world. The alumni choir features a variety of vocal styles ranging from classical, gospel, spiritual, inspirational, R&B, adult contemporary and soul just to name a few. The alumni choir also offers the flexibility of mixed choirs (male/female) as well as all male or all female choirs, in addition to choirs consisting of as little as 10 singers to choirs of 40 singers. The many accomplishments of the Alumni Choir members during their tour with The Boys Choir of Harlem include performances which include: Concerts (performances included appearances at): The White House, The United Nations, Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul III's visits, Carnegie Hall, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York's Central Park, Ellis Island, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, The Met, The Apollo, Kennedy Center, US Capitol, US Holocaust Memorial Museum, Davies Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall & St. Paul's Cathedral (London), Notre Dame Cathedral (Paris), Budokan (Tokyo), etc. Performers (collaborations include performing with the following artists): Backstreet Boys, Luciano Pavarotti, James Ingram, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Randy Travis, Michael Bolton, Glen Campbell, Kenneth “Baby Face” Edmonds, Michael Jackson, Gladys Knight, Jeffrey Osborne, Luther Vandross, Peabo Bryson, Ray Charles, Al Jarreau, LL Cool J, Ronnie Milsap, Vanessa Williams, Natalie Cole, Roberta Flack, Jewel, Eddie Murphy, John Secada, Stevie Wonder, Joel Grey, Tony Bennett, Marvin Hamlish, Maureen McGovern, Mandy Patinkin, Jackson Browne, etc. Orchestras (collaborations include performing with the following orchestras): Boston Pops, Boston Symphony, Diva Jazz, Cincinnati, Miami, Musica Sacra, National, New York Philharmonic, New York Pops, Philadelphia, Royal Liverpool, etc. Recording (in addition to releasing 16 albums, the Choir can be heard on the following soundtracks): Glory, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, Panther, The Wiz, Dress Casual and Bobby. In addition to its performance schedule the alumni see as its mandate to carry on the tradition of Dr. Walter Turnbull by conducting workshops and after school programs focusing on educational & artistic instruction designed to develop students' individual artistic skills and overall musicianship as well as preparing them for participation in the Alumni Boys Choir and Girls Choir performing ensembles.
