Clint Eastwood and Gerald Wilson Celebrated ’Monterey Moods’

Legendary jazz composer/arranger Gerald Wilson and long-time Monterey Jazz Festival board member Clint Eastwood celebrated backstage after the Gerald Wilson Orchestra's live premiere of his composition Monterey Moods at the 50th Monterey Jazz Festival on September 22, 2007.

Mr. Wilson was commissioned by the Festival to compose, arrange and perform a suite in honor of MJF's 50th birthday and Mack Avenue Records is proud to release the studio recording of this incredible new music -- Monterey Moods. Following the set, Mr. Eastwood was presented with an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music which was presented by Berklee alumna Diana Krall.

The two stars were also seen by audiences in live discussions over the star-studded anniversary weeked at MJF. Wilson and son, jazz guitarist Anthony Wilson, participated in a live Down Beat Blindfold Test conducted by journalist Dan Ouellette. Movie directors Eastwood and John Sayles discussed with writer Paul DeBarros the role of jazz in the soundtracks to their acclaimed films.

Monterey Moods was released on Mack Avenue Records on September 25.
