| Jeremy Zmuda Wins John Lennon Songwriting Award for Jazz Jeremy Zmuda, composer and guitarist, has won a Grand Prize award in Session I of the 2007 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. His tune, “On Standby,” won out of over 1000 entries in the jazz category of the world renowned competition. He is one of 12 winners in as many categories and, along with prizes that include $5,000 worth of recording equipment, a $500 gift certificate and an iPod, he has the chance to be awarded a $5,000 publishing advance from EMI and the opportunity to vie for the $20,000 Maxell Song Of The Year, the contest's top award. The song of the year candidates will be selected by the public online by category from the winners of Sessions I and II. Those Lennon Award winners will then by judged by celebrity musicians and songwriters who make up the executive committee, including The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Enrique Iglesias, Tim McGraw, Bacon Brothers, Amy Grant, Carole Bayer Sager, Carlos Santana, and others. A native of Long Beach, Indiana, Jeremy Zmuda now lives and works in NYC. He is an alumni of Berklee College of Music and of Chicago's Columbia College. He is an active performer and writer in the New York music scene. His winning tune, “Oh Standby” can be found on Zmuda's latest release, End Of A Era. He is joined on the recording by fellow NYC musicians Bryn Roberts/piano, Dan Pratt/saxophone, Matt Clohesy/bass, and Greg Ritchie/drums.
