| Pat Martino and Jimmy Bruno at Jazz Improv LIVE! 2007 If there's anything you need to know about jazz guitar, two of the most revered and articulate masters of the instrument - Pat Martino and Jimmy Bruno - will each be conducting workshops on Saturday October 27 at the First Annual Jazz Improv LIVE! 2007 - The One International Convention & Festival For Jazz Fans - October 25-28, at The New Yorker Hotel and Manhattan Center. New York City. These two jazz guitar legends will offer tips about technique and improvisation, and share their immense wisdom and experience about the business, music, history and personalities. On the previous day, Friday October 26, the Pat Martino Quartet and Jimmy Bruno Trio will each perform at Jazz Improv LIVE! The more than five hours of guitar insight, demonstrations, and performances by these masters is sure to inspire guitar fans, musicians, students and educators. This rendezvous of guitar legends, and much more, will take place at the First Annual Jazz Improv LIVE! 2007 Convention & Festival, October 25-28, at The New Yorker Hotel and Manhattan Center, 34th Street & 8th Avenue, across from Penn Station, New York City. The event will feature almost 100 performances by legendary icons and emerging artists, on multiple stages, all day and evening. 80 panels and workshops are scheduled, and there will be a 15, 000 square foot music expo area. Among the highlights are the exclusive U.S. appearance of the McCoy Tyner All Star Trio featuring bassist Stanley Clarke and drummer Jack DeJohnette, Sun Ra Arkestra, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Wallace Roney Group, Eddie Gomez and Mark Kramer, Geri Allen Trio, Roy Haynes Quartet, Pat Martino Quartet, Sonny Fortune Quartet, Jimmy Bruno Trio and many more including guitarists Vic Juris, Mark Elf, Ken Hatfield. There are three fascinating tracks of panel and workshop events, and attendees are free to choose from among them: (1) Fan/Listener focused; (2) How-to's of Making Music – workshops on improvising, composing; (3) Music Business – getting gigs, radio airplay, marketing, production, publishing, and more. Jimmy Bruno began his professional career in Philadelphia. 30 years later, Maplewood Avenue marks his 13th recording as a leader, following releases on Concord, Mel Bay and other labels. He teaches at the University of the Arts.
