Charmaine Clamor at Catalina Bar & Grill

Charmaine Clamor, the first Filipina to find success on American jazz radio, will celebrate the release of her new CD Flippin' Out (FreeHam Records) Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Catalina Bar & Grill in Los Angeles and at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City Wednesday, September 12, 2007.

Originally from Subic-Zambales, and now a resident of Los Angeles, Ms. Clamor is the creator of jazzipino, a musical form that combines American jazz and blues with the melodies, languages and instruments of traditional Filipino music. Her new record album, Flippin' Out, contains beloved kundiman and harana presented with contemporary soul and swing. The CD is receiving heavy airplay across America and in Australia and Canada, introducing mainstream listeners to the beauty of Filipino music.

Early media response to Filipina singing sensation Charmaine Clamor's groundbreaking new album, “Flippin' Out” (FreeHam 0705; September 1st) has been overwhelmingly positive. Backed by three members of the Tierney Sutton Band -- Christian Jacob (piano), Trey Henry (bass), Ray Brinker (drums) --and a host of all-star Filipino musicians, the sultry-voiced Clamor melds soulful American jazz and blues with traditional Filipino love songs, creating music she calls ”jazzipino.”
