| World Premiere - Pipes of Peace The World premiere of the Rufus Harley documentary, “Pipes of Peace,” will take place Thursday September 27, 2007 at the Wildwood By The Sea Film Festival. “Pipes of Peace” is a intimate profile of the worlds first jazz bagpipe player, Philadelphia musician, Rufus Harley. The film will explore his philosophy, struggle, success and his influential jazz bagpipe playing in his community, the nation and throughout the world. Rufus often handed out miniatures of the Liberty Bell and copies of the U.S. Constitution during his tours abroad. Harley's message of sustaining peace to all cultures is as relevant today as his message was in the 60's & 70's. In the history of the jazz landscape, you will find eccentric geniuses who create music to a different drum... and Rufus Harley was such an individual. Featuring a roll call of all-star artists and friends such as: Kenneth Gamble (T.S.O.P.), Stephen Caldwell (The Orlons), Dee Dee Sharp, Joel Dorn (Grammy Award producer), Odean Pope, Byard Lancaster, Tommy Conwell, Stewkey (of NAZZ), Charlie Gracie, David Ivory (Grammy nominated engineer), Pat Martino (Grammy nominated jazz guitarist), Harley's son Messiah Harley and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
